I analyse relevant aspects of movement and integrate them into one holistic picture. My approach is to synergise knowledge from Martial Arts, Dance, Physiotherapy, and Chi Kung with my personal experience…
The desire to make my body more efficient means I am a regular patient on the massage couch. After years, I took a course and became a professional massage therapist. However, just a course didn’t make me a good massage therapist; I continue to learn and now have 15 years of practice and experience.
I love this job for freeing people from pain and tension.
It has also allowed me to develop my feelings and has helped me to understand the human body from different perspectives better.
I offer my therapy at a private studio: 48 Meadow road TN4 0HS Southborough Tunbridge Wells
I can visit you at home.
I have been working as a physio for Tunbridge Wells F.C. in the season 20015/16.
Physiotherapy – Anatomy Trains
Exploration of our movements brought me to Tom Myers’ concept of Anatomy Trains a few years ago. This book massively changed my perception of our movements. It helped me see the whole human body much more holistically. Instead of separated muscles, I see the united body, with a myofascial network throughout. Therefore, I have taken an Anatomy Trains in Motion course.
For us, movers are important to understanding how the human body –tensegrityworks in motion; how moving patterns affect your body and vice versa – how any unbalance of your body affects your movements.
The new perception of the body helped me better understand body mechanics as a martial artist and a dancer. It’s also helped me diagnose the problems of my massage therapy patients.
Martial Arts & Chi Kung
When I was an elite athlete (a member of the Slovakian National team of Kickboxing and karate), I found the limits of my body, especially with tension and the necessary recovery time. I felt that if I did not recover properly, I could get injured, inflamed, cramped, or have other problems. I found that massage was a method which relaxed me, allowed me to train more, got rid of pain, made me more supple, and improved my recovery – positives come with a cascade effect. I studied at the Academy of Education in ‘Milosrdnych Bratov’ hospital Bratislava (Slovakia), where I was certified as a sports massage therapist. Athletes are warriors and have the same aim: to be more efficient, dynamic, stronger, and harder but also healthier. It is beneficial that I am also a professional martial arts instructor. These two professions merge to support each other. It lets me see the human body from different perspectives and improves my feelings and power—a basic precondition for great Sports Massage Therapy.
It’s unbelievable how much you can increase your performance by the feeling in your body. You can control the tension in your mind. You can use your bodywave (the kinetic energy of your body). Despite its massive influence, this energy is underutilised. Your movement could be smoother and more precise. With feeling, control of tension, bodywave, or how to generate power with the least effort possible, Russian Systema (Martial Arts) works. I am also a certified Systema Instructor by Vladimir Vasiliev. Systema strengthening could show a new dimension of dynamic exercise important for a warrior. It also teaches how breathing can help cope with stress & pain.
I am an open-minded guy, so I studied the Chinese method of efficiency and vitality. I am a Sifu of Wing Chun Kung Fu practitioner of I Liq Chuan, which is related to a healthy programme known as Qi-gong.
I am also studying functional Chi Kung / Qigong: Zhang Xin Dao—I Liq Chuan (Martial Art of Awareness) from GM Sam Chin.
Dance & Play-fight
I love dancing! I grew up in hip-hop and break dance. I really enjoy expressing myself at Contact Improvisation. If there’s any chance, I love dancing in clubs; however, I often just dance at home… And, of course, I dance when I practice martial arts. Every movement is done smoothly and elegantly, called ‘dance’.
